Those of us who work with or see Australian Shepherds or Border Collies or English Shepherds probably feel pretty confident that we know our breed when we see it. Sure, some of them look sort of similar but anyone with any experience just knows .
I personally think there are plenty of dogs in each breed, purebred,
registered dogs, who (at least in looks) can fool even the most
experienced eye. You get one of these dogs in the field with a half dozen
sheep and, sure, you can pretty much positively identify the dog's breed
but what
about in the neighbor's yard or down at the shelter? Or from an emailed
picture. Well, it's not always so easy then is it...
So, I'll be collecting pictures here of all three breeds that will
attempt to fool you. If you've got any pictures to add please let me know .
Of course, any good test taker will know that since these pictures
are chosen to fool you the first guess is probably not the right one but
I hope the pictures will still get the point across...
